In high school I wedged clay for a local potter. I left Oregon to be an apprentice at Berea College and I was introduced to the full spectrum of pottery studio work. My wife Pat and I have continued to make pots together for the last 30 years.
Currently, I work each day at troubleshooting, design, and development in a tile studio that employs 130 people, then, on my own time I explore the vast, complex form and feel of slowly made pots. I hope the freedom, the focus and the exhilaration I find with making functional soda -fired pots is evident in each cup, bowl, and pitcher-- however small, humble and quiet they may be.
