I strive to make a pot that lends itself to the imagination. Architecture, textiles, food, historical pots, mid-20th century design and the surrounding from my daily life all influence the formal and design decisions in my work. By drawing from a diverse group of inspiration sources, not only can a user access my pots on a functional level, but also through something connected to the memory of an object or experience. I grew up in the suburbs of the Twin Cities and discovered clay as a biology major at Carleton College. After earning a Master of Fine Art from Penn State University, I received a residency at the Archie Bray Foundation during the summer of 2005, and most recently I spent a month as a resident artist in Goshogawara, Japan. I currently teach ceramics at Hamline University in St. Paul. |
