I join many others on the Pottery Tour who have been making ceramics for thirty years. I have a foundation in wheelthrown functional pottery, but through the years, my interest in handbuilding took hold - and the forms that have evolved still satisfy a functional tendency, but are more sculptural in shape and embellishment.
For the past two years I have been working in porcelain, and what a pleasure it is to draw and paint on the surface. My work usually involves some combination of animal, figure, architecture and landscape, and whether applied in a random or deliberate way, it is my hope that the forms and narrative convey both classical and contemporary sensibilities.
