I see myself as a “classical” potter in the sense that my work derives from a long tradition of pottery making whose primary purpose was to fill a practical need. The need dictated the form, and that some of these old pots are also beautiful and alive to us is, I believe, due to the manual/visual skills and sensitivities of individual anonymous potters. With this heritage in mind, I try to make pots pots that feel good, look good, and function well.
