I work in stoneware and in porcelain creating useful pottery for the kitchen and table. My intent is to make functional pots which will be enjoyed through the simple aesthetic pleasures of everyday use. My pots are individually wheel-thrown, often altered or assembled from wheel-thrown parts. Working primarily with carbon-trap and shino-type glazes, I strive to achieve warm earth tones and textures. In all my work, I want the character of these earth materials and the hand-making process to be evident. The best of these pots should attain an elegant simplicity while conveying the uniqueness of the handmade object.
