Between 1972 and 1995, working with clay was my primary focus, first with useful stoneware pottery which eventually yielded to carved porcelain small boxes with celadon glaze. In 1995, carving exploration led me to using wood for small sculptural pieces. From time to time during the years since then, I have taken time to make pots even though my focus has been small sculptural wood pieces.
2011 marked the 35th year of Sunrise Pottery, and I did make some pots for the Tour event that year. I plan on giving more time to preparing pots, both stoneware and porcelain, for the 2012 Tour. Making pots is fun, and I enjoy being more of a part of the tour than just the cookie baker and kitchen wrangler. Some of the pots are already made!
I will still be carving wood pieces too, but for other events.
